Dove Celebrates 60 years of #RealBeauty with a photo shoot by Mario Testino
Since 1957, Dove has been committed to redefining beauty through its mission of spreading body positivity. 60 years later, Dove solidifies their mission with their #RealBeauty pledge, three vows dedicated to encouraging natural beauty and confidence.
- We always feature real women, never models.
- We portray women as they are in real life.
- We help girls build body confidence and self-esteem.
To celebrate the launch of the #RealBeauty pledge, renowned photographer Mario Testino and his team met in Splacer’s Stunning Midtown Loft to photograph 30 portraits showcasing the beauty of real women from around the world. The portraits feature women and girls, aged 11 – 71, from 15 different countries, and will be on display throughout New York City and online.
Mario Testino told Dove about why he supports the campaign, “The way Dove empowers women to celebrate their own unique beauty has long resonated with me. I have always taken the same approach with my pictures. A photographer has a choice – they can take a picture and make it about themselves by using avant-garde techniques, sometimes capturing the weakness in women, or they can choose to give their picture over to the woman in front of the lens by making her look herself and feel her most powerful.”
