Coachellous? Here’s How to Have Your Own Festival Pop Up Experience

In the age of the social media obsessed millennials, festivals like Coachella have become magnets for advertising opportunities. Music festivals are the spaces to “see-and-be-seen,” as festival goers are constantly facebooking, instagramming, tweeting, and snapchatting their experience to their social media followers. According to MediaKix, Coachella’s collaboration with Snapchat received over 400 million views worldwide, which is almost 200 times the number of actual festival goers. Brands are capitalizing on this exposure by offering promotional experiences and free gifts to attendees, who in return, share the brands’ name and likeness in their plethora of posts.

Whether it’s DVF’s #Chillchella brunch or Revolve’s Desert House Party or Levi’s and Re/Done’s Neon Carnival, brands of all sizes are migrating to the Palm Springs desert this week for the renowned, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. What had started as a remote destination for small indie and alternative bands in 2001, Coachella has transformed into a pop culture phenomena filled with sponsorships opportunities, partnerships, and media moments.

Last year, Diane Von Furstenberg partnered with Dannijo and Same Swim for a #Chillchella brunch, inviting the most fashionable and trendiest social media influencers. The outdoor brunch took place at a private estate on Saturday morning before the festival started.

On Saturday afternoon at another private estate in Palm Springs, Revolve’s Desert House had DJ performers an A-List attendee list such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Jamie Chung, and Emma Roberts. The afternoon party ended before Saturday headliners but the day was far from done. 

Every year, Levi and Re/Done’s Neon Carnival draws celebrities, influencers, and almost everyone to the landing strip at the Desert Resorts Airport in Thermal, California. This wild party has had guests such as Leonardo Dicaprio, Taylor Swift, Jared Leto, and the Weeknd.
